About Celia Foundation

Celia Foundation is an initiative founded with a target group of kids with special needs focusing on the Autism Spectrum and Down Syndrome.
Africa, an underdeveloped continent deprived of good education both academic and societal, as well as low access to good healthcare delivery at so many levels, breeds a lack of recognition and understanding for people who are different from us. As a result, children with these special needs are treated differently both in and outside the home simply because their conditions are not understood and simply ignored.
It is imperative that sensitization levels be raised to bring easier recognition and widespread awareness to special needs children, thereby fostering early detection, treatment, management and support where needed.
Celia Foundation is providing a platform whereby various methods and techniques of handling and supporting children with autism and down syndrome can be explored and maximized. The foundation also aims at promoting solutions across autism spectrum and down syndrome throughout the life span for the needs of individuals and their families in Nigeria and Africa as a whole. We do this through advocacy and support, increasing understanding and acceptance and better interventions and a conducive learning environment for these children with special needs.

It is on this basis that Celia Foundation seeks to alleviate this burden by collaborating with local and international partners to provide medical, mental, social, emotional support to these group of children and their families.

The foundation has its headquarters in the capital city of Nigeria with volunteers spread across the country.
